Job Description

Job Title: Educational Nonprofit Proofreader

This is a 40 hour a week contract for a month with potential to extend - 2 days a week onsite in Englewood, Colorado.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented proofreader to join our team. As a proofreader, you will review, edit, and proofread a variety of educational materials, including curriculum guides, instructional materials, marketing materials, and other content. You will work closely with our content creators and editors to ensure that our materials are error-free, consistent, and effective in delivering educational content to our target audience.

Responsibilities:

  1. Proofreading: Carefully review written materials for spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting errors to ensure accuracy and adherence to our style guidelines.
  2. Editing: Collaborate with our content creators to improve the clarity, coherence, and overall quality of educational materials.
  3. Consistency: Ensure consistency in language usage, terminology, and formatting across all materials.
  4. Fact-Checking: Verify the accuracy of information presented in our materials, including citations and references.
  5. Collaboration: Work closely with our content team to meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of quality for all educational resources.
  6. Feedback: Provide constructive feedback to content creators to help improve the quality of their work.
  7. Adaptation: Adapt materials to meet the needs of diverse learners and ensure accessibility for all.

Qualifications:

  1. Excellent Language Skills: Exceptional command of the English language, including grammar, punctuation, and syntax.
  2. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to producing error-free materials.
  3. Education Background: A degree in English, Communications, Education, or a related field is preferred.
  4. Experience: Previous experience in proofreading, editing, or a related role is a plus, especially in the educational or nonprofit sector.
  5. Strong Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with the team.
  6. Passion: A genuine passion for education and a commitment to making a positive impact on underserved communities.
  7. Time Management: Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently.
