As a project surveyor you will assist in planning, designing, constructing and maintaining Oregon’s highway systems as well as informing and providing Oregonians with innovative tools, adding safety and value to their experiences with ODOT. A day in the life:
  • Study and research printed or online materials for long periods.
  • Serve as a resource and mediator in resolving technological and procedural obstacles to 3D design, AMG and any construction survey automation matter.

  • Develop standard agency procedures for creating, distributing and utilizing 3D design and AMG data.
  • Periodic statewide travel required with potential for occasional out of state travel.
  • Work in an office environment with hybrid remote work options available.
  • Research software, hardware and equipment for exchange of Automated Machine Guidance (AMG) concepts and other construction automation efforts.
  • Develop standard agency procedures for implementing paperless construction administration (e-Construction).
  • Establish best practices and guidelines for 3D design, AMG workflows, and other construction automation.
  • Navigate potentially tense situations while troubleshooting construction automation glitches, mediating conflicts over construction automation application and leading staff in resolving construction automation while having pressing timelines.
  • Work on active construction sites around a variety of heavy equipment assisting with machine guidance and other construction automations.
  • Repetitively test software, hardware and systems for function and compatibility in various configurations and environments.
  • Provide training and direct support relating to surveying and automation.

What we need:
A valid Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) license.
Note: If registered in another state, successful applicants will be required to obtain professional registration in Oregon within six months of hire.
Driving is an essential function of this position. You must have a valid driver license and an acceptable driving record. We will conduct pre-employment driving records checks on our final candidate(s). Your license does not have to be issued in Oregon to be considered.
