Job Description
Overall Function

The Project Manager, Global Climate Cooperation (GCC) will play a critical role in the collaborative development and execution of EDF’s Multilateral Climate Cooperation strategy, including the organization of EDF’s engagement approach in multilateral fora, such as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP) and regional UNFCCC climate week events. The Project Manager will directly support the AVP, Global Climate Cooperation and the Manager, Global Climate Cooperation by developing and managing project workplans and timelines, and by preparing documents to organize content and support meetings and decision-making. Additionally, this role will collaborate with the Global Climate Cooperation Operations lead to align Multilateral Climate Cooperation strategy, planning, and resourcing with organizational tools, processes, and timelines. This is a highly visible role that requires excellent verbal and written communication skills, and demonstrated ability to work professionally and collegially with executive staff and peers across EDF teams including other Mission Areas, Mission Finance, Marketing and Communications, Development, and HR.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the work of Environmental Defense Fund experts and other NGOs as needed, including EDF representation at meetings as needed.
  • Develop and manage EDF’s year-round work plan for engagement at UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conferences, including annual Conference of the Parties (COPs), and other relevant events identified as part of the Multilateral Climate Cooperation strategy.
  • Plan Multilateral leadership team and other workstream meetings: prepare agendas, record decisions, and track action items to keep the team aligned and engaged throughout execution.
  • In coordination with the GCC Operations lead, liaise with Development to facilitate writing of proposals and reports for funders, and to share information about Multilateral priorities and funding gaps.
  • Participate in advancing EDF DEI goals in which people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address environmental and organizational challenges in alignment with EDF values.
  • Track progress against Multilateral Climate Cooperation goals and objectives; communicate updates with GCC leadership and stakeholders.
  • Develop a calendar of year-round multilateral events and fora and gather input from GCC leadership and EDF-wide stakeholders to coordinate EDF’s plan for engagement.
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications (MarComm) to identify and track Multilateral planning dates, opportunities, and tasks relevant for MarComm engagement.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key external stakeholders, subject matter experts, and relevant academic/research communities to generate actions related to the project.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
  • Ensure clear and systematic document management for Multilateral materials.
  • Develop and implement effective communication approaches for the Multilateral working team and foster key relationships with other stakeholders.
  • Prepare documents (presentation slides, memos, etc.) to organize content related to Multilateral Climate Cooperation work areas, in support of meetings and discussions with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Serve as the Project Management Partner for the Multilateral Climate Cooperation strategy; develop and ensure execution of associated workplans, timelines, and cross-functional tasks; coordinate work with key stakeholders including other Mission Areas, Mission Finance, Marketing and Communications, Development, and HR.
  • Collaborate with the Global Climate Cooperation Operations lead to align Multilateral Climate Cooperation strategy, planning, and resourcing with organizational tools, processes, and timelines, including fiscal year budget building.
Qualifications
  • Strong analytical skills and experience performing rigorous analysis in support of highly visible work.
  • Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.
  • 4 or more years’ related experience, or advanced degree with 2 or more years’ related experience.
  • Knowledge of the multilateral climate cooperation landscape, particularly UNFCCC, with demonstrated interested in climate and environmental issues.
  • Ability to juggle many tasks and deadlines and to respond quickly to changing opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work professionally and collegially with executive staff and internal and external stakeholders across varying departments and areas of expertise; capability to drive work and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues and partners of varied backgrounds and experience.
  • An ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, both independently and as a member of small teams in a dynamic and creative environment.
  • Ability to translate strategy documents, meeting notes, and other content into memos, presentations, and reports.
  • Experience in project management and exceptional personal organization and attention to detail.
