The Project Accountant executes customer billings & collections, expense report processing, vendor payable functions, and certain report preparation for projects pertaining to a specified group of customer accounts. The position is responsible for working with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and with internal employees. This position is responsible for adherence to A/P and A/R policies and procedures and reports to the Accounting Manager.


Primary Duties/Responsibilities


  • Preparing revenue and project profitability reporting for a specified group of customer accounts.
  • Billing for all billable resources performing services for a specified group of customer accounts.
  • Reviewing and processing vendor invoices charged to assigned projects.
  • Maintaining accounting ledgers by posting monthly account transactions.
  • Completing setup of Projects in Financial Force by reviewing information transferred from Salesforce and attaching POs and SOWs that support the company’s contractual right to bill.
  • Maintaining financial security by adhering to internal accounting controls.
  • Collecting accounts by tracking invoices in customer portals, contacting customers’ A/P resources; investigating circumstances of non-payment; negotiating and escalating issues; expediting payments.
  • Reviewing and processing expense reports charged to assigned projects.


Requirements


  • 3+ years as a staff accountant
  • Experience using Excel to develop complex models.
  • B. S. Degree in Business (Accounting or Finance preferred)


Required Skills


  • Exceptional proficiency with MS Office products, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project, MS PowerPoint
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with accuracy and within timeline assigned
  • Word (work with large documents containing tables, TOC, styles, track changes)
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Excel (create, modify charts, filter data, use of functions within multiple worksheets)
  • Detailed -oriented
  • Successful candidates for this position will meet the following criteria:

  • Significant desk work on a computer
  • Lifting requirements – 35 lbs. per OSHA requirements.
  • FLSA executive and professional positions paid on salary basis, where project requirements and tight client deadlines may require workweeks in excess of 40 hours (including weekends or holidays)
  • Ability to travel as required in support of client projects.
