The Program Manager I (Area Supervisor) will cover the following counties: Abbeville, Aiken, Anderson, Fairfield, Greenville, Greenwood, Johnston, Laurens, Newberry, Oconee, Pickens, Taylors.
The person in this position will support the duties of the County Supervisor by meeting and conferring with school officials and parents within the area to interpret State laws and regulations pertaining to public school transportation. Manage the area school bus maintenance program to include monitoring the shop's supervision of the assigned vehicles, equipment, and grounds. Ensure cost-effective and productive shop operations within the area; shop summary reports will be reviewed and monitored. Take appropriate actions as needed. Manage area maintenance budget and monitor and promote the effective use of all area and shop resources. Assist the Assistant Director of Safety and Information in supporting the Driver Trainers assigned to the Area and promote student transportation safety. Work to assure that shops in the area accurately track the use of school buses under permit and that districts promptly and accurately report this permitted use of buses. Monitor the shop and district scheduling, routing, and use of school buses. Conduct special routing and vehicle assignment studies and recommend appropriate adjustments. Participate in the Office of Transportation decision team. Promote the coordinated use of transportation resources between shops in an area and with other areas. Participate as a member of cross-divisional team activities. Be responsible for the periodic evaluation of employees. Perform other assigned duties as directed by the Director of the Office of Transportation.
