Job Description

The College of Health and Education of Marymount University seeks to appoint a Program Director for a newly developing Speech-Language Pathology graduate program. This position is for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor in Speech-Language Pathology.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing discipline-specific instruction in graduate and undergraduate pre-requisite courses and administrative duties as the Program Director.
For the Associate Professor rank, the candidate will possess expertise and experience in concert with the Marymount University Faculty Handbook.

Teaches, advises, and mentors students; evaluates student performance; and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Collects data and prepares reports as required by the university and accreditation association. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty and coordinators. Serves on department, college, and university committees. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the Adheres to the university's educational philosophy.

General job description:
The Program Director candidate will lead the development of a new SLP program for a planned opening in 2026. The candidate should provide evidence of strong leadership; exceptional communication skills; an understanding of higher education, curricular design, assessment, and contemporary speech-language pathology clinical practice. Demonstrated administrative experience is highly preferred.
Duties include developing, and teaching of undergraduate prerequisite and graduate SLP courses, advising students, pursuing scholarly endeavors leading to publication, presentations, and grants, and participating in campus and community service. This is a campus-based position.
The Program Director’s specific responsibilities include oversight of the budget, implementation of the newly designed online curriculum and adherence to the accreditation standards, faculty mentorship, and selected teaching in the area of expertise. The candidate should have academic credentials commensurate with the faculty rank of Assistant Professor or higher; this is a tenure-track position. Salary and benefits are competitive.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited SLP Program
3-5 years of experience in SLP higher education.
Eligible for licensure in Virginia.
Required Experience/Expertise
An earned doctoral degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement. Must demonstrate evidence of teaching effectiveness/excellence. Must possess excellent communication skills and skills in team building, coaching, mentoring, supervision, conflict resolution, organization, delegation, problem-solving, and understanding diversity. The candidate for Associate Professor rank will possess experience at the rank of Associate Professor in a CAA-accredited Speech-Language Program.
Demonstration of prior expertise in leadership, administration, management, and supervisory roles is preferred.
Experience Preferred:
Skill in team building, coaching, mentoring, supervision, conflict resolution, delegation, problem-solving, and understanding of diversity.
Current research line or potential to develop a line of research.
Experience with CAA accreditation procedures and online teaching experience is highly valued.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Ability to effectively instruct students. Ability to advise and mentor students. Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and assessment of outcomes. Ability to work and lead effectively with others in productive ways. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to conduct and supervise scholarly work. Collaborate with program management partner to ensure best practices and efficiencies in enrollment, placements, course design and instruction. Serve as a liaison to develop and scale online program with an external partner. Collaborate with and provide support for online SLP faculty. Manage online course development and maintenance to ensure quality course delivery and program outcomes. Provide administrative and logistical support of the program. Recruit and orient new faculty and provide ongoing faculty mentorship
