Job Description

Our People & Places Solutions business – reinforces our drive to improve the lives of people everywhere and epitomizes the "why" of what we do – the tremendous positive impact and value our solutions bring to our communities and society as a whole. From facilities delivering life-saving therapies and ensuring clean water to enabling the connection of people through all modes of transportation and providing access to technology – we're integrating a multitude of these solution elements to build the smart environments of tomorrow.

Start your Jacobs career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can evolve, grow and succeed – today and into tomorrow.

Your Impact:

At Jacobs, we don’t settle – we’re always looking beyond to raise the bar and deliver with excellence. We apply our expertise and knowledge as we look into the future with optimism and focus. We work together and give our best to make a difference in our world.

Join us as a Program Director, where we are using our solutions in transit and rail to create a more connected and sustainable world.

As a vital leader in our Transit and Rail Team, you’ll work on challenging programs that depend on your vision, expertise, intuition, and leadership to plan, direct, and monitor all aspects of complex program delivery.

We’ll rely on your leadership for delivering multidisciplinary complex systems and infrastructure-related programs involving new or rehabilitated tunnel, track, station, signaling, utilities, bridges, and systems. You’ll be challenged with the management of large, complex programs and will act as one of the company’s primary contacts with the client, responsible for overall work progress and technical performance on the program.

Capitalizing on your strategic foresight, we’ll ask you to serve as an innovative thought-leader in Transit and Rail Program Management while utilizing both innovative and well-established program management procedures. Being an inspirational leader for our team, you’ll be responsible for oversight and mentoring of the program team through all phases of program planning, procurement, delivery, and closeout consistent with program delivery processes to meet the scope, schedule, budget, and other specified contractual requirements.

Utilizing your business acumen and communication skills, you’ll be asked to develop and maintain meaningful client partnerships, successfully complete the scope of work, and simultaneously ensure that Jacobs’s health, safety, environmental, security, and quality expectations are also met. Additionally, we’ll ask you to play a key role in business development activities leading to the award of the contract. This typically includes client relationship development, program-specific positioning activities, teaming arrangements, proposal preparation, oral interviews, and contract negotiation consistent with established business development processes.

We’ll look to your knowledge, experience, and ability to lead technical experts and the innovative application of design, construction, and operations to structure approaches to solving transit and rail challenges. As needed, you’ll initiate or escalate the correction of any conditions which may adversely affect the completion of the project on target.

At Jacobs, we’re partnering across the globe to create the best project outcomes by maximizing the design, digital technology, and support capabilities of our Global Integrated Delivery (GID) teammates. You’ll be joining a community committed to challenging today and reinventing tomorrow.

Design your career with a company that inspires and empowers you to deliver your best work so you can continue to evolve, grow, and succeed.

We’ll Also Ask you to:

  • Participate in the Jacobs growth process and work collaboratively with Sales teams
  • When necessary, coordinate with regulatory agencies and serve as a liaison between clients and other agencies
  • Manage external client and stakeholders, as well as internal staff, to complete work on-time and within budget, including interfacing with teams working on other related programs/projects
  • Partner with the global Program Management team on leadership best practices
  • Coordinate and/or oversee design, construction, and readiness activities with clients, consultants, and stakeholders
  • Mentor and lead other transit staff while creating an environment in which innovation and differences are openly shared, embraced, and incorporated into the team’s activities
  • Oversee interdisciplinary teams and provide review and guidance during development of deliverables
  • Assist with proposal development and participate in interviews and presentations
  • Clarify the program’s vision and strategy, and ensure efforts are prioritized to support them
  • Take an active role and participate in US transit industry trade organizations, including presentation of papers, publications, and serving on select committees

  • Demonstrated understanding of transit assets, capital programming, program controls, program delivery, commercial management, scheduling, cost control and other key disciplines necessary to deliver a complex transit capital improvement program
