Job Description
  • The Program Coordinator will oversee the administration and operations of the Programs under the direction of the HEF Program Officer. They will ensure a positive, safe, enriching environment, in accordance with the Henrico Education Foundation policies, procedures, and mission with their team of Center Directors and site staff.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Interpret, communicate, and promote the Henrico Education Foundation mission, goals, and objectives to employees, volunteer’s leaders, members, and community.
  • Monitors daily operations to adhere to all state, local, and program regulations.
  • Partner/collaborate with organizations whose mission is aligned with the Henrico Education Foundation to meet the needs of community children and families.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Manage the Program budget ensuring that the department operates in a fiscally sound manner and achieves financial goals.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, vendors, volunteers, staff, and community.
  • Adheres to the Community Learning Center/Learning & Discovery policies and procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
  • Promotes a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintains transparent, on-going communication with supervisor.
  • Promotes program in a positive way internally and externally.
  • Supervises staff to ensure that they successfully fulfill their job responsibilities.
  • Oversee the administration and operation of licensed full day summer camp, to include planning, promoting, hiring and training staff, risk management, and budgeting.
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with Henrico County Public Schools, including prompt and professional communication, appropriate use of facilities, timely and accurate completion and submission of reports, and positive collaboration.
  • Serves as a positive role model, demonstrates professional behavior, and understands positive youth development approaches to the academic and social development of youth.
  • Support Henrico Education Foundation initiatives to help meet organization goals.
  • Ensure the adherence to all government and Henrico Education Foundation regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards for enrichment programs, summer camps, and afterschool programs.
  • Oversee the administration and operation of the Programs, to include implementing policy and procedures, planning, promoting, implementing, hiring and training staff, risk management, evaluation, and budgeting.
  • Serve in direct delivery of program as needed.
Requirements
Qualifications
  • Meet the requirements of Program Director as detailed in the Virginia Regulations for Licensed Child Day Centers. (must have at least one of the following)
  • Ability to stand/walk/sit/crouch/kneel/reach/lift/pull
  • Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
  • An endorsement or bachelor's degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and one year of programmatic experience.
  • Must be able to work in a noisy environment
  • Working knowledge of Windows and MS Office Operations.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 45 pounds
  • Forty-eight semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester hours or 18 quarter hours are in child-related subjects and one year of programmatic experience.
  • Ability to create, interpret and communicate written instructions, policies and guidelines.
  • At least 21 years of age with reliable transportation and a history of dependability.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act swiftly in emergency situations.
  • Must have the ability to courteously respond to inquiries and complaints
  • A graduate degree in a child-related field such as, but not limited to, elementary education, nursing, or recreation from a college or university and six months of programmatic experience.
