Position Summary
The UNM HSC Institute of Ethics is hiring a Program Coordinator (Grade 10, non-exempt). The Institute of Ethics is the primary center for the practice and teaching of ethics at the Health Sciences Center. It runs a variety of education programs. It also coordinates the Ethics Committee and the Clinical Ethics Consulation Service. The Program Coordinator is responsible for managing the various educational and training programs and supporting the ethics consultants and the Ethics Committee. The coordinator collects and manages data, including budgetary data, and present summaries to the Institute leadership.

Conditions of Employment
  • All regular, non-temporary positions assigned to this classification are represented by a labor union and subject to the terms and conditions of the US-UNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Employees who provide services or work in patient care or clinical areas are required to be in compliance with the University's influenza vaccination requirement.
  • If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications
The successful candidate must have the following capabilities: • Interpersonal skills to facilitate the functioning and development of the Institute • Literacy in the following programs: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint, Adobe creative suite (or equivalent). • Ability to manage webpages and wiki-pages • Proof-reading practices. • Ability to learn how to manage a departmental budget • Ability to learn how to use university programs for reimbursement. The ideal candidate would also have the following experience: • Training in philosophy at the undergraduate or graduate level. • Experience/Training in theoretical and practical ethics. • Experience in teaching at the university level.
