General Statement of Job


The Program Coordinator for Honors and Global Leaders keeps official department records for both the Honors Program and the Global Leaders Program, while assisting students daily. In addition, the coordinator relieves the Directors, as well as staff members, of administrative work by performing the following duties.


Specific Duties And Responsibilities


Essential Duties:


Serves as the customer service point of contact for the department by managing student needs, general foot traffic in area, incoming calls, and multiple email accounts.


Prepares confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents including recruitment and probation letters, as needed.


Maintains the Honors Program and Global Leaders Program student databases through the production of tables, reports, and spreadsheet files, often utilizing Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Teams.


Manages multiple calendars and independently schedules appointments for departmental staff.


Coordinates all departmental purchase order requests, supplies and inventory. Includes but is not limited to office supplies, kitchen supplies, and any essential items needed.


Tracks and maintains multiple budgets.


Assists in arranging programs and events by reserving facilities, arranging setup by physical plant, securing IT support, coordinating food services, issuing information or invitations, coordinating speakers, and attending events for on-site support.


Sends information to students regarding deadlines.


Creates and maintains database and spreadsheet files.


Share in assignment of Honors advisees


Assists the Global Leaders Director with organizing and implementing student programming (i.e. Leadership Seminars, Conference Registration, and Domestic/International Travel).


Enrolls all Honors students in Banner each fall and spring semester, while assisting with Global Leaders enrollment as needed.


Receives, processes, and maintains all student applications, gathers internal Admissions documents from Target X, schedules applicant interviews, and participates in interviews and the interview process.


Works with Financial Aid by tracking and verifying scholarship disbursements, while also communicating the removal or addition of students.


Prepares data on incoming Honors Program and Global Leaders Program cohorts.


Composes and prepares minutes of Honors Program Committee meetings.


Certifies Honors Program graduates and notifies the Registrar of their status through the completion of graduation checklist forms.


Update and maintain program websites.


Help Global Leaders recruitment through the calling of eligible students.


Maintain the Honors Program experience app/ texting system: Suitable/Cadence


Attend off campus conferences and/or retreats.


Maintain an MSSU procurement card.


Maintain Honors/Global Leaders facilities and resources (e.g. technology, lounge, kitchen).


Implement and maintain social media for both programs.


Understands policies and implements procedures relating to Admissions, Financial Aid, the Registrar’s office, the Honors Program, and the Global Leaders Program.


Assists the Directors in developing publicity materials to send to University Relations and Marketing.


Provides administrative support for time sensitive matters when the Directors are not available: carrying out other administrative tasks as assigned.


Works closely with the Directors to plan and organize student programs and events, such as Discovery Days, Survival Seminars, Signing Ceremonies, Southern Welcomes, Guest Speakers, etc.


Performs Other Related Duties As Required.


Education, Experience, and Licenses


High School diploma or GED required. College degree from accredited college or university preferred.


Three years applicable progressive experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Prefer training and / or experience in accounting, Excel and Word software, PowerPoint, Canva, and customer service.
