Job Description
Job Responsibilities


The Family, Nutrition, and Health (FNH) Program / Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed)/ Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP) will be under the coordination of this position. The coordinator with general supervision coordinates programming for FNH, SNAP-ED Extension Agents, and EFNEP Paraprofessionals and supports the Family, Nutrition, and Health Program Leader.


This position is responsible for administrative work by coordinating a nutrition education program to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out following specified South Carolina State University 1890 Extension departmental objectives tied to the Family, Nutrition, and Health program and USDA-NIFA.


An employee assigned to this classification coordinates program activities to ensure administrative efficiency and compliance with departmental standards.


Work is performed under the direction of the FNH Program Lead and is reviewed through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained.


Minimum And Additional Requirements


Displays consistent initiative through the communication of ideas, and new processes and provides timely feedback.


Ability to work a consistent 8:30 am to 5:00 pm work schedule.


Coordinates FNH, SNAP-Ed, and EFNEP Extension Agents and Paraprofessional training, and program delivery responsibilities in collaboration with Agents and Regional Directors.


Oversees Advisory Board and selects volunteers according to knowledge and experience in the area with which the program is concerned.


Confers with agents and essential parties to explain the program and individual responsibilities for functions and phases of the program.


Manages data collection and reporting consistent with mandates established by the 1890 Research & Extension Administration.


Prepares program reports for higher-level supervisors.


Controls expenditures per program budget allocations.


Develops policies and procedures for the program's operation in conjunction with Family, Nutrition and Health Program Leader.


Responds to inquiries and/or complaints regarding the operation of the program.


Assists in monitoring contracts related to the operation of the program.


Coordinates all activities dealing with federal, state, and local agencies.


Ensures efficient and effective daily operations of the program.


Performs the duties listed, as well as those assigned, with professionalism and a sense of urgency.


Preferred Qualifications


Ability to self-motivate without consistent direction.


Ability to collect data and transform data into reports.


Ability to meet timelines concerning data collection and reporting.


Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.


Provide oversight, management, and advocacy for FNH, SNAP-ED, and EFNEP Paraprofessional Agents.


Ability to recruit and market programs with confidence, make decisions and be dependable with Extension Agents.


Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations related to the program and program area where Extension Agents operate.


Ability to develop and implement operating policies and procedures.


Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationship with the public, contractor’s, local business owners, and Constitutional Officers.


Maintain liaisons within the Extension system and with appropriate agencies and professional groups.


Knowledge of Microsoft 365.


Ability to generate necessary paperwork per state and local ordinances.


Ability to plan and organize work and manage time.


Additional Comments


A minimum of a Master’s degree in Family and Consumer Sciences, Extension Education or a closely related field and 5 - 8 years of relevant work experience. Doctoral’s degree preferred.
