Job Description

GDA has an exciting and challenging position in the Structural Pest Division (SPD) that licenses and regulates pest management professionals, specifically those engaged in the business of structural pest control in the state of Georgia.

The GDA SPD is searching for a Program Assistant in the Division of Structural Pest. This position would report to the Division Director and the Georgia Structural Pest Control Commission.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties may be complex in nature and may involve access to confidential information.

  • Researching and/or resolving issues in the Licensing, Certification & Training Program.
  • Representing programs at meetings and outreach events.
  • Drafting documentation, meeting minutes, reports, or presentations.
  • Purchasing supplies and equipment.
  • Providing support to Certification & Training, Compliance & Enforcement and Outreach Programs.
  • Providing information and assistance to internal and external customers.

Other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands: maintain a satisfactory Georgia driver’s license; occasional overnight in-state travel; be able to lift up to 25 pounds; standing, squatting, kneeling, and driving for short periods.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Preference will be given to applicants, who, in addition to meeting the Minimum Qualifications, possess knowledge, skills, and abilities in the following areas:

  • Successful experience providing administrative support for a unit that included dealing with issues, situations, and documents of a sensitive and/or confidential nature.
  • Experience making travel arrangements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Effective verbal, listening, and communication skills.
  • Experience in an office setting with excellent customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with pesticides, pest management, and/or entomology.
  • Two (2) years of experience working in a support role for a senior member of management.
  • Three (3) years of administrative support experience within a state of Georgia government agency.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience composing and formatting correspondence and other documents.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and perform at a high level of accuracy; and
  • Experience preparing meeting agendas and meeting planning.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
