Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Ability to learn how to operate welding equipment and related equipment to perform weld procedures, which ensure proper weld size, weld penetration, fit-up, and appearance.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
  • Performs rework as required to ensure completeness and compliance with established specifications.
  • Coordinates with other employees to ensure needed materials are in the work area.
  • Maintains clean, orderly work area to minimize safety hazards.
  • Always follows established safety procedures and policies.
  • Receives work assignments from Shop Supervisor and discusses jobs to minimize questions about what is to be done.
  • Performs other duties as apparent or assigned.
  • Uses devices (jigs) to maintain correct positioning.
  • Uses hand tools as required.
  • Informs Lead person/or Supervisor of questions or problems with welding operations or related equipment as quickly as possible.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a cooperative manner with others.
  • Ability to learn methods of grinding welds, deburr rough metal, and produce various finishes on metal.


Knowledge, Training, Skills and/or Experience:


  • Ability to lift 50 pounds occasionally, 25 regularly.
  • Ability to stand, carry, crawl, kneel, bend, climb, sit for extended periods in combination up to ten hours per day. This includes awkward positions inside and outside tank and vessels.
  • Ability to use arms and hands in repetitive motions for extended periods.
  • Ability to operate powered, vibrating tools for extended periods.
  • Ability to work with arms extended overhead, using tools.
  • Ability to correctly fit and wear hearing, eye and respiratory protection devices, where required.
  • Natural or corrected eyesight to be able to read blueprints, and documents and to do work.
