Job Description

Mungo Homes, a part of Clayton Properties Group, is adding a Production Manager to our team in the Wilmington, NC market!


This position is responsible for monitoring all construction activities in an assigned territory and for insuring cohesive and consistent methods are being followed to achieve desired results in terms of quality, consistency and timeliness.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (performs other duties as assigned)

  • Address recurring warranty issues and participate in resolving as required.
  • Maintain clean, well organized work area.
  • Oversee and manage daily activities of field labor crews where required.
  • Remain current on all building code developments/changes.
  • Conforms with all safety rules and uses all appropriate safety equipment.
  • Review and provide feedback on building pad designs and drainage plans as required.
  • Resolve late payment issues.
  • Meet or exceed previous performance levels in the areas defined by the key indicators and specific goals for the position and the Production Department.
  • Review product designs for continuous improvement. Manage prototype development in assigned area.
  • Approve expense reports from field staff in assigned territory.
  • Resolve lot specific plot plan issues and communicate to Operations Coordinator.
  • Attend quality inspections on a regular basis. Review and help resolve issues between quality inspection company and Mungo production, or with the quality control process, and address repeated quality issues. Perform role of Quality Control Manager in their absence.
  • Review job costs with Project Managers regularly and resolve issues as required.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings as required.
  • Resolve customer issues as required.
  • Train Trades and Project Managers on a predetermined schedule and on predetermined training topics.
  • Implement and enforce company safety program as determined by the Corporate Safety Officer.
  • Identify and present new products, construction methods, market trends, gaps in production, opportunities for improvement, new trades and new land positions.
  • Implement, update and maintain lot matrix.
  • Review and approve profit and customer service bonuses for field staff as required.
  • Maintain contact with Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers in assigned territory. Participate in walk throughs, address job site and subcontractor issues, and review jobs for safety, sediment control, lot problems, merchandizing, scheduling, quality and material management and closings. Provide feedback to Project Managers on the above.
  • Identify lots for proper foundation types as required.
  • Walk houses in your assigned territory before close to insure compliance with quality and consistency standards of the company.
  • Pursue continuous improvement within the position working towards the overall production goals.
  • Abide by the Core Values of the Company.
  • Coordinate and communicate changes in Homeowner Manual and Operations Manual as required; coordinate and communicate updates to Scopes of Work to Purchasing as required.
  • Approve field ledgers and address issues with any square footage bonuses.
  • Participate with Vice President – Purchasing, Estimating and Drafting resolve identified construction method issues as required; respond in a timely manger to planning and estimating questions; provide input for locations of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and security to drafting.


Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises Project Managers and indirectly supervisors Assistant Project Managers in assigned territory. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Ten or more years residential construction experience, or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
