Role Summary
This position will be on 3rd Shift. The Production Manager will be responsible for efficient management of the production department to include all processes, procedures, and outputs of the department. customer satisfaction through quick follow up to problems. The Production Manager will be challenged to manage overall productions schedules and budget, support customers and communicate clearly and regularly with plant senior leadership, peer department managers and production supervisors on status of Department's KPI’s.
Key Responsibilities
- Properly maintain employee records and manage employee time off coverage.
- Supports and enforces the 5 C’s, company principles of Company goals and objectives, and decisions and policies by taking ownership and communicating these in a positive and supportive manner.
- Responds to and investigates all reports of injuries, accidents, illnesses, near misses and property damage immediately.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Plan and supervise the development of direct reports in a manner that strengthens the organization.
- Develop implementation plans for the product changes and new products assuring that plant operations can support customer schedules (contracts).
- Analyze customer schedules (contracts) to assure they can be achieved, and that the customer can be adequately supplied.
- Provides timely feedback on work performance including but not limited to safety, housekeeping, quality, accuracy, quantity, attendance, punctuality, job knowledge, adaptability, initiative, teamwork, communication, judgment and comprehension.
- Approve of all standard work jobs elements so that proper product quality, operator build ability, and productivity are achieved.
- Complies with all Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with company policies, the Occupational Health & Safety Act. and the Michigan Occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Ensures timely completion of performance reviews based on established schedule.
- Supervision over the production, materials, and maintenance teams.
- Assure proper supervisor staffing is in place to efficiently manage the production department.
- Ensures all employees and visitors have a safe environment in that safety and housekeeping standards are maintained; and all hazards, unsafe actions, or unsafe conditions have been identified, corrected, and/or eliminated.
- Supervises Team Leader(s) and Production Team Associates including but not limited to planning, assigning, directing and coordinating their day-to-day activities.
- Displays a positive attitude towards safety, works safely and follows all the Company's safety policies and procedures.
- Takes an active part in the division’s safety program by performing regular workplace inspections, effectively investigates accidents/incidents promptly, and assists in meeting or exceeding the division’s safety goals.
Key Qualifications/Requirements
- Team oriented, communicates well with others, and able to interact with people at all levels and departments
- JIT experience preferred
- Bachelor’s (4-year) degree; or 10 years related experience.
- Detail oriented and excellent documentation skills
- Excellent problem solving and leadership skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Minimum of ten (10) years of production supervisory experience or a minimum of five (5) years of team leadership experience in an automotive manufacturing facility.
