About the role as Product Owner
As a Product Owner, you will be responsible for maximizing the product value for one or more GridUnity products. You will do this by keeping all stakeholders aligned on the vision for the product, the strategy for realizing this vision, and representing customers’ needs to the product development team. This vision and strategy will be reflected through the management of a prioritized product development backlog.
You will ensure the development team maintains a clear understanding of the backlog and the priorities and goals for each product increment delivered through iterative Agile development. You will act as a member of the Agile development team by specifying product requirements, planning development iterations, reviewing development progress, and accepting deliverables for release to customers. The Product Owner monitors changing customer needs and tracks on-going product metrics to ensure customer value is maximized and product investment decisions are data-driven.
This is a remote position. Location in the Boston metropolitan area is a plus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Approve deliverables as they pass acceptance
- Engage with customers to elicit underlying needs and develop feature requests
- Maintain prioritization of team/product backlog
- Lead and manage ongoing refinement of team and product backlogs
- Provide subject matter expertise and support as needed to GridUnity sales team (e.g., RFP support, product demonstrations, etc.)
- Decompose product roadmaps to features and features to deliverables
- Define clear, engineering-ready requirements
- Define acceptance criteria
- Approve deliverables as they pass acceptance
- Lead and manage ongoing refinement of team and product backlogs
- Maintain prioritization of team/product backlog
- Define acceptance criteria
- Develop and maintain expert knowledge of GridUnity’s customer needs, acting as the “Voice of the Customer” embedded within one or more Agile teams
- Work closely with GridUnity Product teammates to support development and maintenance of the product line vision and product roadmap in accordance with company strategic goals
- Define, develop and maintain key product performance metrics and reporting
- Define clear, engineering-ready requirements
Required Skills, Qualifications and Competencies
- 2 to 5 years experience working as a Product Owner role at a software product company
- Ability to adapt to changing internal and external priorities
- Must be skilled in both written and verbal communication with the ability to transition seamlessly between technical and business content areas
- Experience with Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD) is a plus
- Energy/utility industry experience and knowledge is a plus
- 5+ years of experience in software development industry
- In-depth understanding of and experience with Agile software development methodology
- Highly organized with ability to stay on top of multiple projects, teams and deliverables
- Undergraduate degree in STEM field, or equivalent experience
