Job Description

The Hasbro Action Brands team is currently recruiting playful and creative design students to assist the Design team in the development of our products over the course of a summer internship.

As an intern, it will be your responsibility to assist in all stages of the design process. From brainstorming ideas, sketching, building early models and assisting product designers in evaluating concepts, you will be exposed to and assist in a variety of tasks expected from a Hasbro Toy Designer. You will be asked to contribute across the portfolio of Action brands, and will be given opportunities to explore insight-led development through work with our internal consumer testing groups.

This position supports brands across the Action Brands portfolio, including (but not limited to) G.I. JOE, Power Rangers, Ghost Busters, as well as Disney Brands such as Marvel and Star Wars; so get ready to channel the hero… or villain inside, to help us create fun adventurous play patterns, expressed through rough tough and fun action figures and vehicles.

A Day in the life of a Toy Designer on Action Brands:

  • Work Cross-Functionally with Entertainment, Engineering, Marketing, and Package/Brand Design to validate and refine concepts based on manufacturing realities and market trends.
  • Research Current trends in upcoming movies and video games, play and toy categories, creating mood boards and insight documentation to inspire and validate product direction.
  • Prepare for and help deliver internal presentations for new product concepts.
  • Work with overseas partners and mass manufacturing vendors to complete product development. Evaluating models and production samples to ensure quality and experience are consistent with internal vision and true to brand standards.
  • Brainstorm new product ideas and categories within our development group; as well as leveraging teams across Hasbro for concept cross-pollination
  • Create Product specification packages (using Adobe illustrator and Photoshop) to define product specifics for development.
  • Visualize new concepts via sketching, digital design, CAD, physical model building, and video editing.
  • Create testing stimulus and participate in both qualitative and quantitative testing to validate consumer insights and product direction.

What you'll bring:

  • Must be available to work full-time as a co-op for three months between May-September 2023
  • Co-op assignment can be either a required or optional requirement for graduation.
  • Must be a current undergraduate student. Students graduating in 2023 are NOT eligible for 2023 Summer Co-op opportunities.
  • Completion of at least one year of study within an undergraduate design program (Product, Toy, or Fashion Design) or Illustration program.
  • Strong skills in sketching and proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Passion for collaboration, play and consumer product development
  • CAD Model building, physical fabrication and Video editing skills are all a plus, but not required.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal efficiency skills
  • A GREAT love of toys and FUN!

Candidates are responsible for their own housing & transportation (FREE Parking).
