Job Description
Job Title
Process Engineer
Position Overview
This position will be working at a facility with some of the most state of the art pieces of flooring equipment in the company. This is a continuous running line that processes the lamination and coated vinyl flooring slabs. Will manage all process improvement initiatives with specific consideration to the engineering perspectives and skills to support projects/activities of the facility. This is a fast pace, high exposure position
Essential Duties:
  • Develop relationships with manufacturing technical, research and development as well as other departments at RP to ensure improvements.
  • Meet with management teams to ensure progress towards facility goals.
  • Submit expense and capital projects for future machine modifications.
  • Work on projects as assigned by the Manager, as well as any other duties requested.
  • Coordinate trials with R&D.
  • Work closely with both Corporate and site engineering to maintain the integrity of the mechanics of the line.
  • Build relationships with all associates to be able to coach, train and develop using tools of Operational Excellence.
  • Provide effective and timely reports for the facility and corporate management. Collect, analyze, and make recommendations using financial reports and Engineering tools to drive improvement and cost reductions.
  • Management of co-op support.
  • Requirement of various troubleshooting skills and the ability to make quick sound decisions.
  • Maintain Six Sigma projects utilizing appropriate tools for asset reliability improvement, downtime reduction, etc.
  • Organize and execute assigned projects while maintaining records on the projects and develop training documentation for new and existing processes to include the writing of work instructions.
  • Responsible for reviewing and disposition of quality, including root cause analysis and prevention.

Requirements:
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work without close Supervision.
  • BA/BS degree required; Engineering Degree preferred.
  • Strong quantitative & communication skills (Oral, written, & presentation to individuals & groups)
  • Ability to present information in a professional and user friendly presentations.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the vinyl flooring process
  • Understanding of computer software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Minitab, Google, etc.
Preferred:
  • Mechanical Engineering background preferred
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred. Must be willing to go through Six Sigma training.
  • Previous LVT manufacturing experience preferred.
Work Shift
8 Hr non-rotating shift, Hrs fall to in punch day, Observed Calendar, shift starts AM
