The Position

We currently have an opening for a Process Control Engineer based out of our location in Port Townsend, Washington. This position will be working under the direction of the E&I Superintendent to provide assistance in actively designing, developing, installing, managing, and maintaining essential equipment used to monitor and control machinery and processes including information systems on the process control network, ensuring safe and efficient operations.

Job Responsibilities

  • Work with team to implement process control models, strategies, and other methods for ensuring quality output.
  • Ensures compliance to the strategies and standards related to all aspects of the information and control system platform; these include, but are not limited to DCS, PLC, control logic programming, data acquisition, networking, vision systems.
  • Assist process technology and production teams in the development and DCS/PLC programming of control sequences for all system-controlled processes.
  • Acts as Project Manager/Overseer and keeping projects within design, cost and time expectations as assigned by Engineering Manager.
  • Provide control system support and technical expertise in support of large capital projects, process evaluation, and project modifications.
  • Develop process control strategies and standards to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop new standards that incorporate the new/modified control system architecture.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Manage department projects associated with re-instrumentation and DCS/PLC installations or Process Control Systems.

Required Experience

  • Experience in supporting operations group on a day-to-day basis.
  • Experience with Data Acquisition and Information Systems associated with Process Control Systems.
  • Three years of experience in Process Control engineering in paper mill operations OR advanced degree in Engineering with any manufacturing facility environment.
  • Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Control Systems (PLC) to include Information Systems.

  • Salary range: $120,000 to $150,000 DOE.
  • Full-time employees receive 160 hours of sick leave upon hire then earn eight hours of sick leave per month.
  • In compliance with the Immigration and Naturalization Act, proof of authorization to work in the United States will be required at the time of hire.
