Location: SGMC Patient Financial Services
Department: Patient Access Services PAS
Schedule: Full Time, 8 HR Day Shift, Days and some weekends
Position Summary
Responsible for the management of Pre-registration, Prior Authorization and Scheduling department at South Georgia Health Systems, to include: insurance verification, pre-certification, prior registration for services, creating cost estimates and collections. Interacts and works with: patients, other departments, physician offices, other acute medical care providers, insurance companies, pre-certification companies, employers, intermediaries, utilization review companies, state regulatory agencies (GMCF, Medicaid) and attorneys to collect information and document patient accounts in order to assure maximum reimbursement. Responsibilities include the monitoring and development of policy and procedures, information systems, personnel training (enterprise wide), and the attainment of departmental goals. Facilitate revenue cycle functions and staff involved in patient access, up-front cash collections, office management, and account resolution activities. Daily responsibilities also include guidance of employees, coverage for staff, monitoring of Quality Assurance measures, and oversight in ongoing staff training. Oversees all departmental goals including project initiatives, the implementation and execution of initiatives in meeting collection goals, Productivity standards, and meeting 95% accuracy in registration error variance. The Patient Access Manager will serves as a resource to all areas in the PAS Department for the entire registration team. Produces and maintains an efficient and productive Hospital Preservice process that maximizes reimbursement for the organization. Serves as a resource to all areas in PAS Department in the entire registration area when called or needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare, business, or a related field preferred or a high school diploma/GED with 3 years management experience.
  • Must have at least four years of progressive related experience in Patient Access Management or Healthcare Management to include a working knowledge of pertinent laws and regulatory requirements.
  • Previous data entry, programming, office coordinator/management experience required.
  • Active membership in NAHAM preferred
  • Experience in Business Management, Finance or Nursing is required.
  • Individual will possess an extensive background in personal computer applications.
