Job Description
Do you have a background in Early Childhood Education? Do you love working with children and have a passion for the arts and education? Would you like to be a part of a supportive and innovative team, creating and implementing child-centered, arts-infused lesson plans for children enrolled in the three-year-old Preschool classroom at JMKAC?
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center is seeking a Preschool Teacher who shines with creativity. Fine Arts, Dance and Music enthusiasts are encouraged to apply!
The John Michael Kohler Arts Center will be adding a teaching position in the three-year-old Preschool classroom and or 4K to work mornings and afternoons, 40 hours/week, with the Arts Center’s littlest learners, providing a nurturing environment rooted in the arts and rich in social-emotional curriculum.
Candidates must be able to work Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30
p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and must be available to start in August 2023.
This is a school-year position with two months off during the summer.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: An individual in this position must be able to successfully perform the essential duties and responsibilities listed below. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this position. Implement the provided curriculum outline and further develop utilizing the Arts Center’s exhibitions, performances, artists-in-residence, and other programming as primary resources. Use the Arts Center’s curriculum wheel and the Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards as a basis for designing daily projects and activities.
Adhere strictly to the guidelines set forth by the Wisconsin State Licensing rules and policies including maintaining student files, the health and safety of all children, tracking students throughout the day, and healthy snack/allergy awareness guidelines. Maintain the requirements set forth by the Sheboygan Area School District and state mandates for 4K programs. Maintain and compose ongoing communication with parents keeping them up to date on events. Work together with director and co-teacher to ensure the production of all collateral (flyers, postcards, programs, labels, and text panels).
Conduct fall, midyear, and year end evaluations of each child and meet with parents to discuss their child’s development in a conference format. Enter assessments into Skyward as required by SASD. Conduct PALS assessments three times per year as scheduled by SASD and designated by the state. Attend IEP meetings and other evaluation meetings.
Work collaboratively with the program director and co-teacher to coordinate the annual performance and Preschool Perspectives, the exhibition of student work.
Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: Excellent communication skills Conflict resolution and child mediation Teamwork Detail-oriented Creative QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree in education or related field WI DPI teaching License. The position Preschool classroom and office-based and noise level usually moderate. Daily activities such as music and outdoor play may result in a moderate to loud noise level. Candidates must be able to work Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. - 4:30
