Job Description
Overview
Pre-K Teacher will use MSDE-approved curricula and evidence-based treatment methods for preschoolers with developmental disabilities and/or medical conditions. This staff member will provide on-site early childhood developmental enrichment/education and interventions to enrolled children. Instruction will be differentiated to learner needs and aligned with the curriculum. The Pre-K Teacher will lead all educational plan implementation, monitor student progress, and manage the classroom. The Pre-K teacher will maintain consistent contact with families of enrolled children.
PACT’s World of Care specialized child care center is designed to meet the individual needs of children who have medical conditions requiring daily nursing care and children with developmental disabilities who require multiple therapies (physical, occupational, or speech/language).
While we accept typically developing children, priority for admission is given to children who are medically fragile or developmentally delayed or disabled.
World of Care is accredited by the Maryland State Department of Education and licensed by the Maryland Office of Child Care Administration.
Responsibilities
  • Develop partnerships with families through regular communication, parent conferences and parent training.
  • Initiate and maintain contact with PACT disciplines and outside agencies (schools and case managers). Incorporate feedback from other professionals into assessment and treatment plans.
  • Implement an MSDE-approved pre-kindergarten curriculum, including planning, leading and guiding large group, small group and individual lessons; modifying lessons and developing activities to meet children’s individual learning goals.
  • Communicate effectively and regularly with caregivers, teaching assistants, and other professionals collaborating with the classroom program.
  • Develop individual goals and treatment plans based on observation, assessment and children’s portfolios.
  • Collect data such as anecdotal notes and developmental checklists to communicate classroom decisions and modifications.
  • Oversee the overall development/management of the children’s classroom. Collaborate with the Child Care Teachers and interdisciplinary team to oversee curriculum delivery, caregiver/assistant training and standards are met according to funding agency regulations.
  • Provide timely and regular feedback to the supervisor regarding Child Care Teachers job performance.
  • Administer screening questionnaires (such as the ASQ) to determine the need for referrals.
  • Administer learning assessments (e.g. Teaching Strategies GOLD and Child Outcome Summary) to track achievement of school readiness goals.
