Job Description
Summary

The teacher assistant is required to engage in social emotional curriculum and activities that support the growth of children ages 3-5 years old. The teacher is support the teacher in implementing the weekly lesson plans that engage children and prepare them for Kindergarten. The teacher assistant is in charge of maintaining discipline and active play in the classroom to grow children. This is a full time position, Monday- Friday in the Spring Hill location.



Duties
  • Create developmentally appropriate lesson plans.
  • Keep records on individual children, including daily observations and information about activities, meals served, and medications administered.
  • Instruct children in health and personal habits, such as eating, resting, and toilet habits.
  • Maintain a safe play environment.
  • Read to children and teach them simple painting, drawing, handicrafts, and songs.
  • Dress children and change diapers/pull ups/potty train.
  • Discipline children and recommend or initiate other measures to control behavior, such as caring for own clothing and picking up toys and books as well as some potty training.
  • Support children's emotional and social development, encouraging understanding of others and positive self-concepts.
  • Sterilize and maintain a clean work environment.
  • Regulate children's rest periods.
  • Care for children in institutional setting.
  • Perform general personnel functions, such as supervision, training, and scheduling.
  • Observe and monitor children's play activities.
  • Perform general administrative tasks, such as taking attendance, editing internal paperwork, and making phone calls.
  • Communicate with children's parents or guardians about daily activities, behaviors, and related issues.
  • Identify signs of emotional or developmental problems in children and bring them to parents' or guardians' attention.
  • Organize and store toys and materials to ensure order in activity areas.
