Job Summary: Under the direction of a senior faculty member who serves as a mentor for the postdoctoral appointee, The Postdoctoral Fellow provides for an internship and continuation of scholarly activity and research after achieving the Ph.D. or other doctoral degree.

Additional Department Summary: The Chemical and Biological Engineering Department at The University of Alabama is seeking a candidate for a Postdoctoral position. This Postdoctoral position conducts research in the area of catalytic membranes for PFAS removal under the supervision of Dr. Milad Esfahani.

Successful candidates will hold a terminal degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science Engineering or a related field (e.g., applied Chemistry) and demonstrate a record of academic achievement in research. The College and/or the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department will establish a series of structured merit-based evaluations. Initial appointments are for one year, with renewal contingent upon demonstration of research productivity.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, or Chemistry.

Candidates will need to have completed their Ph.D. or have it completed by the start of employment. Skills and Knowledge: Expertise in catalytic membranes synthesis, characterization (e.g., LC-MS/MS gas chromatography, XPS, XRD, N2 adsorption, Raman spectroscopy, and ICP-OES), and performance.

Preferred Qualifications: Research experience related to working with polymeric/ceramic membranes and catalysts, specifically MXene and Metal Organic Frameworks (MOFs)
