Job Summary


Postdoctoral Researcher in Inorganic and Organometallic Chemistry. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry (Stollenz Group) at Kennesaw State University, Georgia, seeks a highly motivated, dedicated Postdoctoral Researcher to conduct innovative research for the National Science Foundation (NSF) funded project "Highly Luminescent Multinuclear Coinage Metal Arrays with a Twist: A New Approach to Design Light-Emitting Molecular Strings and Coils" (Award # 2155153).

This position is available immediately from May 1st, 2023 to June 30th, 2024, with the possibility of extension, subject to the availability of funding and given adequate progress. Responsibilities


The responsibilities for this position include the operation and maintenance of our new single-crystal diffractometer, solving molecular structures as well as preparation and characterization of target organic compounds, highly air-sensitive organometallic species, and novel transition metal complexes. Besides the new diffractometer, we offer a well-equipped laboratory and a recently upgraded infrastructure for NMR and emission spectroscopy. In addition, the Postdoctoral Researcher develops and improves synthetic procedures using modified Schlenk and glovebox techniques. He or she performs a full characterization of target compounds by means of familiar and new spectroscopic techniques. A key role includes the development of manuscripts and grant applications. He or she also supervises undergraduate and graduate students working in the research laboratory and contributes to maintaining laboratory equipment.

General responsibilities include the following:

1.Plans and executes experimental activities, data analyses, submission of reports or ofmanuscripts to peer-reviewed publications, and/or attendance and presentation of researchfindings at appropriate venues of dissemination
2.Develops and contributes to new ideas for research proposals and directions within theresearch group
3.Develops an Individual Development Plan (IDP) in collaboration with faculty mentor
4.Generates revenue by securing grants and participates in departmental and institutional careerdevelopment programs, such as grant writing workshops
5.Prepares project budget and ensures funded project operates within budget guidelines
6.Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with institutional policies,and federal, state and local regulations
7.Establishes working relationships and cooperative arrangements with internal and externalpartners
8.Engages in research and publication


Required Qualifications


Educational Requirements
Applicants must hold a postgraduate degree at PhD level (or any other equivalent foreign degree) in inorganic or organometallic chemistry from an accredited institution of higher education or obtain this degree within six (6) months of hire.
