The University of Maryland Eastern Shore invites resumes for a twelve month, full-time, grant-funded Post-doctoral Research Associate in Marine/Fisheries Science at a salary of $50,000 with a start date of May 1, 2023. The position is subject to availability of funds.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director and Distinguished Research Scientist with directed research programs commensurate with their expertise.
  • Develop research program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work with the LMRCSC Director and Distinguished Research Scientist to develop a program in marine biology, fisheries ecology, ecotoxicology, aquaculture and/or environmental omics.
  • Instruction of graduate and undergraduate courses.

Required Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in Marine Science/Biology or Fisheries related to biology, ecology, ecotoxicology, aquaculture or population/ecosystem dynamics.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with academic and/or marine programs.
  • Experience in fisheries population and ecosystem dynamics (including modeling and statistical analysis), marine ecotoxicology, fish and shellfish trophic ecology, geospatial modeling or environmental omics is desirable.
  • Some experience with grant writing.

Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Must be organized and detail oriented.
  • Must have excellent communications skills to include written communication
  • Strong familiarity with GIS, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat Pro, experience with database management (e.g. MS Access).
  • Ability to develop and manage budgets.
  • Database management/development skills.
  • Must have a strong customer service focus and interpersonal skills.
