The Pool Maintenance Tech will ensure cleanliness and appropriate chemical standards are maintained for the assigned pool(s).

Responsibilities:
  • Adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising consumers
  • Follow mandated reporting requirements
  • Sets a good example in promptness, respect, manners, honesty and caring for all members, program participants, and guests.
  • Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers
  • Maintains a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
  • Attends mandatory meetings.
  • Attend/complete required abuse risk management training
  • Maintains a clean, safe, fully stocked and well organized work area.
  • Participates in Open Doors campaign.
  • Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities
    • Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.
  • Assists in all area of the Y operations as requested by management.
  • Properly performs daily tasks, and organizes & cleans aquatics area each day according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Exemplifies YMCA character values.
  • Works without constant direct supervision.
  • Maintains positive relations at all times with members, participants, and co-workers.
  • Will check chemical records and maintain pool chemicals to appropriate standards.
  • Handles and resolves aquatics concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Maintenance Employees-ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker-rooms and bathrooms), etc.
Qualifications:
  • Ability to serve both the members and Association staff, both external and internal customers.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED.
  • Requires a commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Ability to work independently with some supervision and also work as a member of a team of Business Process Specialists.
  • Must complete CPO Certification within first 90-days of employment.
  • Current CPR, First Aid, & AED Certification (American Red Cross or YMCA).
  • Able to react quickly and properly in emergency situations.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time and handle stress.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Must possess effective problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Must complete New Staff Orientation and Blood Bourne Pathogen training within first 30-days of employment.

Preferred:

  • Ability to speak two or more languages.
  • CPO Certification.
  • Maintenance or chemical handling experience.
