Job Description
The Plant Scheduler is responsible for proactively maintaining and continuously improving the finite production schedule, ensuring all materials are on hand to meet production needs, and partnering with the Plant Leadership to deliver operational commitments. This role is responsible for complete and accurate communication to all levels of the Supply Chain Team, providing the information necessary in a clear and concise manner, and enabling exemplary service and business results.


Responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following:


  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and take independent initiatives when the need arises.
  • A focused degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Math, Engineering, or Logistics is ideal.
  • Communicate production issues and coordinate resolution.
  • Able to perform clerical duties in MRP system.
  • Partner effectively with external departments including Supply Planning, Procurement, Customer Support, R&D, Quality, Finance, Marketing, and Manufacturing to resolve issues impacting areas of responsibility.
  • Convert the Master Production schedule to an attainable Finite Schedule to meet customer service goals, optimize inventory investments and meet production requirements.
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills and spreadsheet proficiency.
  • Revise production schedules when required due to design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, or other interruptions, collaborating with Management, Customer Service, and Production.
  • Works closely with supply planning, and operations associates to evaluate capacity.
  • Able to manage multiple projects and initiatives while maintaining a strong sense of urgency, ownership and leadership.
  • Strong analytical, leadership, and planning skills.
  • Maximize the utilization of manufacturing assets while providing the product mix dictated by Supply Planning and customers’ orders. Taking into account materials, employee, and equipment availability.
  • Works with operations to develop potential solutions to improve production performance.
  • A focused degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Math, Engineering, or Logistics is ideal.
  • Minimum of 4 years of manufacturing plant experience is required. Perishable goods experience is preferred.
  • Finite Schedule to balance sequencing and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates required by net requirements forecast or customer orders.
  • Monitor excess and obsolete WIP, raw material and component inventory.
  • Experience with Microsoft D365, SAP/JDA or other leading class ERP system beneficial
  • Partner with Plant Supervisors and Operators, Supply Planning, Procurement, Distribution and Customer Service to coordinate production and shipping activities and to resolve complaints or eliminate delays.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff
  • Perform planning and related data analysis needed for cross-functional projects.
  • Experience with Six Sigma/Process Excellence Tools, Training, and/or certification is preferred.
  • Prior scheduling experience is highly preferred.
  • APICS certification a plus
  • Generate daily or weekly production reports to managers for critical decision-making purposes.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) skills required.
  • Monitor production data, including volume produced, consumption of raw materials, and quality control measures, using this information for Continuous Improvement activities such as maintenance of routings and BOM’s, increasing accuracy of production schedule and efficiency reporting.
  • Responsible for achieving key performance indicators such as fill rates, schedule adherence and attainment, within pre-defined inventory targets.
  • Leverage MPS/MRP system to calculate figures such as required amounts of labor, materials, and manufacturing costs.
