Job Summary


The Facilities department strives to ensure a clean and safe environment that is inclusive and meets the needs of diverse populations on campus. The Plant Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operation and repair of building equipment components, subsystems, and complete systems (Pneumatic and Electric) for heating, ventilation and air conditioning. This includes maintaining and providing general repair services for the physical plant, campus equipment and operation of Building Automation Systems at Anoka Technical College.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must have a current State of Minnesota First Class C Boiler License.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Present knowledge of Building Automation Systems, preferably UHL Companies platform.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions sufficient to interpret and carry out assignments in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Ability to perform semi-skilled trades work sufficient to complete minor trades plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and/or electrical systems and equipment.
  • Ability to perform minor repairs and adjustments to machinery and equipment including the general maintenance and minor repairs of buildings.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.
  • Knowledge and skills in the methods, materials, tools, equipment, occupational hazards and safety measures used in trades work sufficient to assist skilled trade’s staff in the completion of assigned projects.
  • Minnesota Chief Engineers “C” License and Universal refrigerant license.

Physical Requirements

Requires daily moving and/or transporting items up to 100 pounds (with assistance) on an irregular basis and 20-50 pounds on a regular basis. This job also may require moving to a significant degree on rough terrain or may remain in a stationary position with ability to push and pull arm and/or leg controls. This job may require strenuous manual labor including but not limited to digging, shoveling, hauling, moving, pushing, and pulling. This job also has frequent squatting, bending, crouching and stooping. This job requires the ability to work in confined spaces, to climb stairs and ladders, and lifting and reaching above shoulder level.

Additional Requirements

In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check.
