Job Description

Our Sourcing team partner with the business to ensure efficient acquisition of goods and services that enables the commercialization of our medicines, vaccines and Animal Health products. We collaborate internationally and are grouped into center-led categories and regional operating teams.

Position Description:

Provide mechanical maintenance support to facilities & utilities for Rahway, New Jersey pharmaceutical research campus and future headquarters for our Company. Support day-to-day preventative and corrective maintenance for assigned area(s) and may include technical input to mechanical utilities including HVAC, steam, water and/or other utilities.

Experienced Industrial pipefitter with working knowledge of mechanical operations and able to maintain, install, repair, and troubleshoot plant equipment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Supports a Target Zero Safety culture.
  • Repair tanks including heating coils, insulation, associated pipe systems, and insulation as required. Perform appropriate pressure tests and leak tests to ensure repairs are done properly.
  • Layout, assemble, install, alter, modify, repair, and test pipe systems that carry site utilities (water, steam, air, or other liquids, or gases)
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot regulators, gauges, valves, traps, and equipment connected to piping. Install and repair drainage systems in compliance with applicable plumbing code.
  • Fabricate supports, mounts, and braces for pipelines, valves, instruments, and connected equipment.
  • Read and understand blueprints and P & I diagrams.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a safe, efficient and clean operating condition.
  • Completes training requirements as defined in training plan. Provides complete written documentation of work including work orders, PM's, etc.) and maintains cGMP records related to maintenance and repairs.
  • Document Maintenance activities using SAP Plant Maintenance system.
  • Ensures compliance requirements; e.g. Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP), safety, environmental, goals are achieved.
  • This position requires interactions with internal customers and external service providers. As well as supports and contributes to maintenance planning process.
  • Utilize electronic technologies; electronic work order systems, e-training, and email.
  • Uses all tools and equipment necessary to make installations and repairs diagnose and remedy mechanical problems quickly. Proficient in rigging and the setup of rigging equipment needed to execute repair work.
  • Assist in performing other duties, including work of other trades as required.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent, Vocation or technical school certification.

Required Experience and Skills:

  • 4 years apprenticeship with 5 to 8 years of experience as an industrial pipefitter with increasing levels of responsibility.
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work as part of a team is a must. Applicants must be familiar with all phases of industrial maintenance.
