Job Description
Job Summary


We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Scribe to join our primary care practice. The Medical Scribe will work closely with our primary care provider to accurately and efficiently document patient encounters, manage medical records, and provide administrative support. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of medical terminology, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinical environment.


Responsibilities


  • Stay updated on medical coding, documentation guidelines, and compliance requirements to ensure accurate and compliant charting.
  • Coordinate with the primary care provider to ensure timely completion of medical charts and necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with the primary care provider and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and follow-up.
  • Accurately document patient encounters by transcribing medical histories, physical examinations, and treatment plans in real-time.
  • Handle administrative tasks, such as scheduling appointments, managing phone calls, and processing patient referrals.
  • Adhere to strict confidentiality protocols and maintain the privacy and security of patient information.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Assist with patient intake and preparation, including recording vital signs, obtaining patient history, and preparing examination rooms.
  • Manage and maintain electronic medical records (EMR) systems, ensuring all relevant information is updated and organized.


Required Skills


  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, or overtime if necessary.
  • Excellent typing and computer skills, with proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and pharmacology.


Required Experience


  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate or bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a medical scribe or in a similar role within a healthcare setting is highly desirable.
