Job Description
The Department of Rehabilitation Therapies at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics is looking for a Physical Therapist to administer treatment to patients with complex physical dysfunctions, disorders and/or injuries and evaluate and interpret findings. This position will primarily be assigned to the orthopedic outpatient setting within the main hospital-based clinic and/or the UI Sports Medicine facility.


Position Responsibilities

  • Ability to meet or exceed customer service needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner. Ability to effectively transmit and interpret information through appropriate communication with internal and external customers.
  • Provide quality patient care, evaluation, assessment and treatment appropriate for patient’s needs. Assignment will involve primarily adults in an outpatient setting.
  • Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and civil manner while appreciating the unique contribution of individuals from varied cultures, race, creed, color, national origin, age, sex, disability, sexual orientation, and gender identity.
  • Service Excellence/Customer Focus:
  • Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
  • Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.
  • Participate in divisional quality/process improvement activities and recommend opportunities for improvement in service quality.
  • Attend and participate in educational programs and provide educational experiences as assigned.
  • Perform routine and assigned administrative tasks in an efficient manner.
  • Evaluate and instruct patients in home treatment programs.
  • Collaboration and Embracing Diversity:
  • Ability to utilize existing resources and learning to achieve or exceed desired outcomes of current and future organizational goals/needs. Able to demonstrate ethical behavior in diverse situations while producing results.

Experience Requirements


  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required
  • Entry level experience in physical therapy in an outpatient setting
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy or a Bachelor’s degree in another field and a Physical Therapy Certificate is required


Licenses/Certifications


  • Licensure in accordance with the Iowa Board of Physical and Occupational Therapy is required


Desirable Qualifications


  • Ability to function as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated leadership in a work or academic setting
  • 1-3 years experience in Physical Therapy
  • 1-3 years experience in evaluation and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders
