Job Description
Summary You will serve as a PHYSICAL SCIENCE TECHNICIAN in the FUELS DEPARTMENT, OPERATIONS DIVISION of NAVSUP FLC YOKO REG. A post allowance amount, (otherwise known as: COLA), of 12.25% will be added to the stated salary. Post allowance is subject to change at any time. Responsibilities Inspects and samples a variety of tanks, tank trucks, single product tankers, pipelines, barges and other media associated with the storage and transportation of petroleum products while assisting with the testing of various petroleum products. Analyzes test results and performs routine calculations. Insures that fuel impurity levels are within safety limitations. Maintains records of fuel tests, independently interprets test results and notifies affected ship and/or activity and supervisors of any questionable findings. Maintains records of all tests performed, both written and electronic. Calibrates and performs limited maintenance/repair on laboratory test equipment, provides quality control and inspection services for all products received, stored, issued, or transferred at the Area of Responsibility (AOR). Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-06) or pay band in the federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector performing most or all of the following duties: 1) Conducting and analyzing a wide variety of chemical and physical tests while applying physical science principles and methodologies; 2) Providing quality control and inspection services; and 3) Assisting with corrective maintenance of laboratory equipment to support warfighting readiness of operating units. Pay retention may be granted when certain conditions are met. This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required. This position requires rotating shift work.
