Description

Are you compassionate about animals and have a desire to speak for those who cannot? For over 110 years, the Dumb Friends League has been working to end pet homelessness and animal suffering by providing a strong and steadfast voice for those who cannot speak for themselves. If you work well with people too, join our team and help us provide that voice.

Purpose of Position:
Provide assistance to patrons relinquishing animals to the League.

Responsibilities include:
  • Clean and sanitize evaluation and intake areas.
  • Communicate with other departments to coordinate and assist with care of shelter animals.
  • Deliver high-level customer service to the League’s patrons.
  • Administer vaccinations and preventative medications.
  • Perform euthanasia and related tasks.
  • Interview patrons to gather information to create animal records in Chameleon database.
  • Prepare and reconcile statements of daily financial transactions.
  • Provide information about League resources and programs.
  • Provide daily animal relinquishment and stray intake services.
  • Safely handle, restrain, and move animals. This includes coordination and movement to address contagion concerns.
  • Manage emotionally difficult situations with strong communication skills.
  • Contribute to and lead initiatives to improve processes and procedures.
  • Provide end-of-life care for animals at their owner’s request.

Compensation: $20.00 - $20.90 per hour (starting pay commensurate with market, experience, and equity)

Qualifications

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
  • Ability to follow timelines for projects, accomplish multiple tasks, and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Required
  • Valid driver's license and insurable driving record
  • High School diploma or equivalent
