Job Description

Spuntech in Roxboro, NC is seeking a highly motivated, results-driven candidate to complement our HR Department as an HR Payroll Specialist. Successful candidates must be self-driven, flexible, and professional. They will have fundamental knowledge in a broad array of topics related to employee benefits, compensation, hiring, onboarding and evaluations. The successful candidate is a team player responsible for supporting the overall functioning of the HR Department, including, but not limited to all payroll operations according to company policies and procedures to deliver maximum value to the organization as a whole.


Description of Duties

The HR Payroll Specialist will:

  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper form.
  • Assist Controller with all Financial audits and/or any other required audits as well as 5500 plans.
  • Monitoring COBRA benefits.
  • Assist in the calculation of annual raises and bonuses including comp analysis and subsequently entering the results into the payroll system.
  • Maintain and update bi-weekly 401k contribution, including changes to 401k contribution, calculate and disburse annual profit sharing, review 401K loans and enter repayment amounts accordingly.
  • Support health care plan roll outs and updates.
  • Report and follow up until conclusion Worker’s Compensation, short/long term liability, death, accident and/or FMLA claims; incorporate receipts and payments into payroll system.
  • Required to work with confidential information concerning the company, executive management, and employees.
  • Be responsible for administering the processing of employees’ paychecks through ADP on a bi weekly basis as well as uploading, editing and amending payroll and benefits for all new and existing employees.
  • Support the company’s quality and safety initiatives.
  • Provide support to the HR Department with various programs, tasks and assignments, such as reception coverage, travel arrangements, and other ad hoc projects.
  • Add and revise payroll codes in payroll system for different pay types and deductions.
  • Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves and compensation and resolve any issues that may arise.
  • Administering employee records, ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations and development, quality and safety initiatives.
  • Review and audit invoices from employee benefit programs.

The HR Payroll Specialist will have:

  • Excellent computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word.
  • Outstanding knowledge of ADP and/or other payroll systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Minimum 2 years, proven experience as an HR professional.
  • Associates degree required and/or equivalent experience.
  • Excellent communication and people skills.
  • Aptitude in problem-solving, decision making.
  • Ability to work with short deadlines and with minimal supervision.
  • Desire to work as a team with a results-driven approach.
