Patient Care Associate (CNA), Acute Medical Unit, Per diem

White 11, part of the teaching service at MGH, is a twenty-four bed acute medical unit. The patients on this unit represent a diverse adult population with a wide range of complex medical problems including cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine, neurological, psychosocial and infectious disease. Collaboration with all health care workers across disciplines is fundamental to our care on White 11.

Under the direction of a registered nurse (RN), the Patient Care Associate (PCA) assists the multi-disciplinary health care team in clinical support functions to promote a safe, compassionate patient care environment. PCA assists multi-disciplinary health care team by assisting patients with daily living needs, monitoring & reading vital signs, drawing blood, and obtaining EKGs.

  • Certification as a Nursing Assistant or EMT at time of hire; OR
  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program; OR
  • Enrolled in a certification program to become a Nursing Assistant or EMT at time of hire; OR
  • Enrolled in a nursing or pre-med undergraduate program with at least one semester of patient care rotations complete at time of hire; OR
  • Successful completion of the Laboure College PCT program.
