This position is full - time. Employees are required to work any shift between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM CST (Central Standard Time) including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need.

We offer on the job training. The hours during training will be 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM from Monday - Friday (Candidate will have the option to do this from home via Microsoft Teams). Training will be conducted virtually from your home.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responds to patient and caregivers' inquiries related to routine and sensitive topics always in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Maintains up - to - date knowledge of specific registration requirements for all areas, including but not limited to: Main Admitting, OP Registration, and ED Registration units
  • Responsible for providing patient - oriented service in a clinical or front office setting
  • Collects patient co - pays as appropriate and conducts conversations with patients on their out - of - pocket financial obligations
  • Verifying insurance eligibility and benefits
  • Utilizes computer systems to enter access or verify patient data in real - time ensuring accuracy and completeness of information
  • Performs a variety of clerical and administrative duties related to the delivery of patient care, including greeting and checking in patients, answering phones, collecting patient co - pays and insurance payments, processing paperwork, and performing other front office duties as required in a fast - paced, customer - oriented clinical environment
  • Responsible for collecting data directly from patients and referring provider offices to confirm for scheduled appointments for patient services prior to hospital discharge
  • Gathers necessary clinical information and secure referrals pre - certification, pre - determinations, and pre - authorizes according to insurance plan requirements
  • Verifies insurance coverage, benefits, and creates price estimates, reverifications as needed

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to train between the hours of 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM from Monday - Friday and then on the job training (Candidate will have the option to do this from home via Microsoft Teams)
  • 1+ years of Customer Service experience in a hospital, office setting, customer service setting, OR phone support role
  • High School Diploma / GED (or higher) OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to work any shift between the hours of 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM CST (Central Standard Time) including the flexibility to work occasional overtime and weekends based on business need

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
  • Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office products
  • Working knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department, Physician’s Office, OR any medical setting
  • Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments

Telecommuting Requirements:

  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service

  • Standing for long periods of time (10 - 12 hours) while using a workstation on wheels and phone / headset
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
