PATHOLOGY TRANSCRIPTIONIST

JOB SUMMARY:

Summit Pathology currently has an opening for a Part-Time entry-level Transcriptionist. We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate to assist our team in several areas of our daily work duties with the focus being on timely and accurate clinical data/history entry in support of quality patient care, for our early evening workload (4:30-9:30 pm M-F). This is a brisk-paced work environment requiring great attention to detail and a strong base experience in medical terminology and anatomy and physiology.

This position is remote with a three-week office initial training period at our Loveland, Colorado Laboratory.This position reports to the Transcription Supervisor and Director.

JOB DUTIES:

• Completes timely and accurate pathology-related data entry into the Lab Information System (LIS).
• Constant hand use is required for keyboarding.
• May assist in various work queues in a data entry-type capacity– to be determined by Transcription Supervisor
• Transcription of pathologist’s microscopic diagnoses. Training will be provided for the qualified candidate.
• Operates and troubleshoots equipment effectively.
• Constant visual acuity at a near distance is required on two monitors.
• Meets departmental quality standards as outlined in the Transcription Quality Assessment Program.
• POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
• Performs additional duties to support the daily functions of the Transcription Team/Department as directed by the Transcription Supervisor and/or Director.
• Attends all safety education and completes all mandatory annual training as assigned.
• This position is considered light work. The physical demands are primarily sedentary work with the occasional need to adjust/set up office-type equipment, i.e. computers, monitors, foot pedal, etc.
• Follows safety standards in all aspects of performance of the above functions.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
• PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT:

Qualifications include training in either a Transcription, Medical Administrative Assistant or adequate equivalent experience with the candidate’s strengths being in medical terminology, anatomy and physiology, excellent spelling and grammar skills, as well as accurate and efficient keyboarding experience, and strong verbal and written communication skills.

CONTRACTUAL TERMS:

Contractual terms are specific to the individual hired at the agreement of employment and contract completion.

COMPENSATION:

To be determined based on education and experience.
