Summary/Objective
Essential Functions
- Enforcing parking policies on all campus properties
- Providing customer service to all campus community members and guests.
- Performing admits to students who are locked out of their residence hall rooms
- Following PSA policies/procedures and the directions of supervisory staff.
- Providing support to the American University Police Department, when necessary, often during special events such as Commencement or Move-In.
- Maintaining consistent communication with supervisors via radio and phone.
- Positively representing the PSA program, the Office of Parking and Commuter Services, the American University Police Department, and the University as a whole.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- 9 hours/week. More hours are available with promotion.
- Availability during the hours of 8am-8pm, Monday through Friday.
Salary Range
- $17.00-$19.00/hour, commensurate with experience.
Required Education and Experience
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Successfully complete all new hire paperwork and pass initial training.
- Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.5. University Safety & Security Services reserves the right to review students’ academic and judicial records.
- Incoming or current AU student.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Ability to handle challenging situations.
- Experience with iPhone-based applications and handheld radios.
