Part-Time Handyman/Maintenance Technician

Viviano Flower Shop is currently hiring for the position of part-time Handyman/Maintenance Technician.

Perfect Retiree Position

• Weekends + holidays may be required during peak floral holidays
• $15/hr.
• Shift: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 8am-4pm
• 25 % Employee discount.

Duties And Responsibilities

The Handyman/Maintenance Technician will perform general maintenance and repairs for assigned equipment and facilities including plumbing, electrical, basic carpentry, heating and cooling, and other building systems.

• Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing, and equipment repair or replacement.
• Repairs and replaces door knobs or locks, repairs door closures, patches holes in walls.
• Purchases supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
• Performs routine plumbing repairs such as unstopping toilets, sinks or urinals, fixing water leaks, leaking faucets, and water fountains.
• Assembles and moves furniture, hang pictures and bulletin boards, moves and sets up tables and chairs.
• Performs routine electrical repairs such as changing light bulbs or fluorescent lamps and assists in repairing ballast and light fixtures.
• Paints interior and exterior walls.
• Performs preventive building maintenance duties, caulks windows and doors, repairs and replaces broken windows.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Knowledge of trades related to building maintenance and repair.
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
• Excellent organizational and time management skills.
• Knowledge of machinery, equipment, and tools necessary for the maintenance and repair of public buildings.
• Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Knowledge of a variety of building maintenance procedures and techniques.
• Ability to follow instructions from Senior Maintenance Technician.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the public.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Education And Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Related experience preferred.
• On-the-job training offered.

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods standing and walking.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
