Reports to: Senior Manager, Cell Therapy Supply Chain
Supervisory responsibilities: No
Location: 2201 W Holcombe Blvd. Suite 205 Houston, TX 77030 and driving in the Houston-Stafford-Medical Center Locations depending on company needs
Schedule: Five hours per day Monday to Friday [10am-3pm or 4pm-9pm]
Position Summary/objective:
This position will be responsible for delivery of samples containing tissue and blood components to and pickup returns from designated locations in a safe manner and with proper recordkeeping.
Essential functions:
- Place units in designated areas, notifying supervisor or laboratory personnel of any abnormalities.
- All other duties as assigned.
- Either pack or check packing of all units (sample containers and records) to maintain required temperature range during transit ensuring every component’s highest quality and traceability while ensuring excellent customer service.
- Delivers samples containing tissue and blood components to and pickup returns from designated locations (Life Science Plaza, UT Health, MD Anderson, Weatherford Facility, etc.)
- Identify and address non-routine situations arising in real-time during sample pickup/packing and report them to supervisor.
- Ensure all samples are properly contained, packed, labelled according to Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Perform visual inspections and verify numbering, labeling, and appearance of all units selected for delivery to ensure quality control standards are met.
- Initiate and properly complete any documentation that is required accurately and legibly in a timely manner.
- Perform quality assurance/quality control activities as assigned.
Secondary functions:
- Construct shipping boxes, ice packs, and complete waybills as needed/directed.
- Transport supplies, mail, etc. to and from facilities.
- Comply with existing policies and procedures.
- Maintain all assigned vehicles (if any) and equipment in a clean and safe operating manner.

- Ability to read and write English and follow instructions provided by each site
Work environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to shipments containing blood and tissue samples (contained within primary receptacle(s), secondary packaging, and rigid outer packaging), outside weather conditions, extreme cold, as well as other biohazardous materials. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Physical demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Employees are required to be familiar with requirements as specified in the Safety Program in an effort to prevent bodily injury and for the health and safety of others. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Must be able to handle materials stored at various temperatures (-196°C to 37°C). This position requires frequent entry and exit from vehicle and the incumbent may be exposed to inclement weather while driving and performing the essential functions of the job.

- Near Visual Acuity – clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (working with small objects, reading small print, including the use of computers).
- Sitting – remaining in a sitting position for at least 50% of the time.

- Communicating Verbally – expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to others to convey detailed spoken instructions or other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
- Standing/Walking - remain on one's feet in an upright position at a workstation.
- Stooping – occasional bending the body downward and forward by bending the spine at the waist - requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
- Pushing - Exerting force upon an object so that the object moves away from the object.
- Lifting - raising or lowering an object (up to 50 lbs) from one level to another (includes upward pulling). Carrying is to transport an object – usually by holding it in the hands or arms but may occur on the shoulder.
Travel required:
Yes. Local.
Required education and experience
- Reliable form of own transportation that will be used to perform essential functions of the job.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Texas Driver's License (TDL)plus acceptable driving record Proof of auto liability insurance at hire and subsequently upon request/renewal.
- Ability to pass a DOT drug test upon hire and randomly during employment per DOT guidelines.

- Applicable IATA/DoT or relevant certifications (TL1)
Additional eligibility requirements:
Employee must have current automobile liability insurance policy for vehicle to be used for transport. The automobile liability policy is primary, and any applicable automobile liability insurance deductibles would be paid by the employee.
Work authorization/security clearance requirements
