FULL TIME PARAMEDIC POSITION AVAILABLE
General Statement Of Duties
Provides Advanced Life Support including medical eva lu ation , treatment and stabi li zation of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential lo ss oflife or bodi l y injury; maintains control, manages a nd directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.
Essential Functions Of The Job
  • Cleans and Maintains equipment .
  • Transport s the ill and injured to institution s of medical care ;
  • Responsible for quality patient-care as established by the Company;
  • Maintains effective communication with physici a n on duty at ho s pital to relate patient condition and obtain ord e rs for treatment;
  • Properly comp l etes patient statistics and medical information forms fo r administrative use ;
  • Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes reasonable and acceptab l e differential diagnosis;
  • Files standard i zed report s of patient information and care for the use of receiving hospital and admin i stration, including nature of request for a id , pertinent past history , therap y provided diagno s is, disposition and s u fficient patient information for billing purposes ;
  • Responsible for managing and directing all first responders at the scene of a medical emergency such as EMR's, Police Departments, and EMT's;
  • Understa nd s and anticipates the pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients;
  • Follows standard written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted;
  • Recognizes common cardiac d ysrhythmias and understands the principles and treatment modalities for li fe threatening dysrhythmias ;
  • Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all condition;
  • Understands and anticipates potentially life-threatening presentation of non-cardiac emergenc i es and institut e s appropriat e e mergency therapy where essential for the preservation of life;
  • Deals with medical and emotiona l needs of any victim of acute illness or injury with the goal of reducing mortality and morbidity;
  • Follow s stan dard operating policies and procedure s as de ve l oped and direc ted by the Company ;
  • Provides and directs fast, efficient Advanced Life Support to the ill and injured utilizing all basic and advanced abilities and techniques, including but not limi ted to the placement of peripheral and intra-o sseous lin es, Supraglottic airways, endotracheal intubations , Cricothyrotomy, fluid and drug therapy, cardiac monitoring and EKG int erp ret ations, defibrillation, and cardioversion;
  • Performs technical r escues in remo v ing victims from varied terrain and circumstances; and
  • Performs critical physica l examinations;

General Information
The s upervi so r m akes assignments in terms of shifts to be worked and t h e genera l s cope of th e work assignment. The incumbent performs the work in accordance with the procedures , policies and medical orders provided. The incumbent must exercise judgmen t in app l ying the proper guide lin e to the proper situation. The work is spot checked and eva l uated based on feedback from the patient, medical staff and others.
Minimum Qualifications
  • CPR for the Health Care Provider
  • M aintain a professional and objective approac h to th e care of ill or injur e d persons ;
  • P erform technical medical sk ills with a hi g h degree of accuracy;
  • D rive and operate emergency ambulance units;
  • U nderstand and effective l y deal with emotional and medical n ee ds of v ictims of injuries , acute illne sses, or p syc hol og ic a l emergencies;
  • E stab li s h and maintain effective working re l atio n s hip s with other e mplo yees , ass i st in g agencies, ho sp ital personne l and the ge n era l public:
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
  • Good ability to :
  • Le arn new concepts in rescu e and medical ski ll s and t ec hniqu es a nd in pre-ho s pit al care;
  • Good knowledge of the street sys tem s, addresses and physica l l ayou t of th e area , and of the rescue equ i pment and the emergency medica l equ i pment u se d in Advanced Life Support.
  • M aintain a professiona l attitude when representing the Co mpany ;
  • U nderstand an d follow oral and written instructions and orders;
  • Must possess and maintain:
  • P ara medic Licen s ure
  • D irect the work of and teach other personnel;
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • P erform a va rie ty of limited m ec hanic a l work in vo lved in the use , te st in g and maintenance of rescue and medical eq uipm e n t;

Additionally, incumbents must maintain a high degree of academic and practical knowledge in emergency para-medicine , and must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses and seminars both on and off dut y to maintain annual paramedic certification, as required by the state in which you will be working.
Other Requirements
The work requires the incumbent to operate emergency medica l vehicles , move medica l equipment and extract injured persons from a wide variety of situations. Situation can in vo l ve veh i cular, industrial and residential accidents, injurie s or illn ess and occ ur anywhere in our coverage area. At times the work requires mov e m ent over various types of terrain , (hilly , steep, rocky, rough, and/or wet/s li ppery surfaces). The incumbent always must be able to carry or help carry someone from the site of the injury to the mode of transportation (vehicle/helicopter) and attend the injured party to
the hospital. In order to perform a physical assessment of the injured party, the incumbent must see,
hear and communicate wi t h the injured party.
Param ed ic s wi ll be i ss ued and must wear Company issued uniforms while o n duty ; additionally, Paramedics wi ll be responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of uniforms , as we ll as all issued e quipment.
Paramedics are required to carry a Company issued pager / radio at a ll times in order to rec eive i mmediate not i ficatio n of an ass i gnment.
