Job Description

Ownership School Partner Liaison

Location: New York City

About Us

Ownership Is The Future (“Ownership”) is a transformational, asset-based elective course and entrepreneurial ecosystem designed with a focus on Black student identity and experiences. Ownership equips high school students with skills, experience, and social and financial capital to create a foundation for economic security and wealth generation as they approach their post-secondary education on their own terms. To accomplish this, we weave rigorous traditional and experiential learning to center Black student experiences in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, investment, social capital, and self-discovery of their identity, passion and purpose through our credit-bearing elective course and related support system of mentors and coaches. Enrolled students initiate their Ownership journey in the Fall semester of their Junior year, and continue through their matriculation in Senior year. Through the unique program areas, Ownership students graduate high school with their own revenue-generating venture, accompanying financial accounts, an initial financial investment from Ownership, a portfolio, and perspective and self-direction that recalibrates and solidifies “what is possible” following high school. We co-create ecosystems with students, families, schools, and communities and demonstrate what's possible for Black students in America. Ownership offers deep parent engagement and a train-the-trainer framework for instructional connectivity and sustainability.

We are intentional in our delivery of our pathway and engagement of our community towards an Ownership mindset. Ownership is not just a concept; as a practice, mindset, and experience, it is an integral component for Black students to engage in self-discovery and step into the role of creators and investors that are consistently building and expanding upon assets (Carlin and Robinson, 2012; Williams, Grizzell and Burrell, 2011). Ownership represents a paradigm shift, in offering students the unique opportunity to navigate their post-secondary transition with competitive skills and assets. We are an educational leadership organization whose mission is driven by racial equity, social justice, and an unwavering belief in the potential of every student. Ownership curriculum and programming are aligned to ELA, Social studies and Economics standards, financial empowerment experiences, and college preparation from an empowered lens during 11th and 12th grade.

Ownership partners with select New York City public schools to deliver our Ownership ecosystem (Ownership Instructor, Coaches, Investor Mentors) and programming (direct instruction, workshops, case studies, signature pitch and expo events, product and service launches, post-secondary planning, coaching and connection to mentors) to support students in their junior and senior year of high school on their Ownership journey.

We are a young organization and at a pivotal moment in our growth as an organization.

We are seeking a School Partner Liaison to manage our school partnerships.
