Outside Used Car Buyer

Bids on trucks at area storage yards, auctions and impound facilities.

Essential Job Duties:

• Develops and maintains outside relationships for both buying and selling units.
• Maintains professional appearance.
• Negotiates prices, discount terms and transportation arrangements for vehicles.
• Approves all paperwork from auctions and provides proper documentation to the office for purchases.
• Performs other specific administrative functions as directed by management.
• Keeps abreast of auction activity and prices and attends auctions on a regular basis.
• Maintains record and inventory of all vehicles purchased.
• Keeps abreast of current market and valuation of used vehicles.
• Assists in all other areas of the Sales Department
• .Maintains high ethical standards.

Education & Experience:

High School or G.E.D. equivalent required. Must possess a valid driver’s license in order to operate a Company vehicle and maintain a clean driving record.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Must be able to work in cooperation with others. Must be attentive to detail and ensure accuracy in paperwork. Must be able to communicate effectively with others. Must have the flexibility to work variable schedules. Must be familiar with the company’s products, techniques and procedures. Must possess effective written and oral communications skills. Ability to establish priorities and exhibit effective time management skills.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment:

Should be able to tolerate high and low temperature levels and occasional inclimate driving conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold and extreme heat.

Preferred Qualifications:

Background in salvage and/or heavy-duty truck industry.
