Position Details
The OSP Engineer manages outside plant projects through design, engineering and construction. This position requires technical experience in outside plant design working collaboratively with other departments to achieve success. This position requires a minimum of 1-2 years of proven experience with OSP underground and aerial telecommunication engineering, and/or a Bachelor’s degree in related engineering field.
Responsibilities
  • Review aerial plant per design standards and make recommendations to support build
  • Must be able to review as-built plans, test results and provide post construction inspection
  • Work with other departments to coordinate make ready management, permitting and fielding
  • Provide engineering designs with associated cost estimates as part of conceptual design
  • Ability to perform low level engineering using 3-GIS, or other GIS platform
  • Maintain orderly records and project documents
  • Ability to perform field work, and travel to various markets as priorities require
  • Ability to work in multiple CADD and GIS platforms as well as Google Earth
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; engineering degree preferred
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to meet project deadlines
  • Knowledge of regional governing code
  • Desktop and field quality control to support final client deliverable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Strong understanding of outside plant engineering and construction
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness to learn new skills, software, and technologies
  • Prepare documentation packages for client review
  • Understanding of job cost, change order management and work order processing
Travel Expectations
Up to 20% travel required
