Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Experience in polarization optical system design and simulation.
  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Expertise in sequential and non-sequential rays trace tools (e.g., Zemax, Code-V, LightTools), design, analysis, optimization, and tolerancing.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in mass production of consumer optical devices and managing domestic and international vendors.
  • 3 years of experience in technical leadership.
  • Experience in the field of optics and displays with a strong background of head mounted display systems design, modeling, tolerancing, manufacturing, and metrology.
  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics, a related field.

The XR Prototype Team’s core responsibilities will be to create functional, head worn hardware prototypes upon which a software team can rapidly develop the experiences and product features to explore features and experiences early in the product development process enabling faster and more effective decisions.


As a lead display optics designer, you will drive to complex and innovative display optics solutions that will have a significant impact on the XR experience. You will also have to travel to support build at component, module, and system factories

Additional Information:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$254,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

  • Own end-to-end optical display systems specifications of head mounted displays.
  • Work with the multi-functional team, establishing clear goals and priorities throughout the product development process, and effectively communicating with various stakeholders.
  • Design, optimize, and tolerance analysis of optical display systems.
  • Work with key stakeholders to iterate design, review manufacturing process, follow through as-built performance and metrology.
