Navarro Research and Engineering is recruiting for an Operations Supervisor in Richland, WA.

This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA, and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. The Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD).
Our 222-S Laboratory team is seeking an Operations Supervisor who has the ability to provide coordination and leadership of a range of operational activities at the 222-S Complex. The selected candidate will provide management of field work activities as a Supervisor involving a range of operational and maintenance activities. The OS will review work packages and engineering documents to determine suitability for work, and then provide direction to bargaining unit and other employees, and other contractors to complete that work. The OS will be trained to participate in the safe and compliant implementation of the Hanford Site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Process at 222-S. The OS will create LOTO Tag Authorization Forms (TAF) and Tags by utilizing drawings, engineering, and Subject Matter Experts (SME) to determine proper lockout points for safe installation for employees. The OS will brief the LOTO TAF and Tags to the workers for installation, verification, safe condition checks, and safe to work checks. Additionally, the OS will interface with diverse groups such as operations, maintenance, engineering, management, construction, Other Hanford Contractors (OHC), bargaining unit, and other project support staff.
Responsibilities:
The Operations Supervisor duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Maintain awareness of Laboratory status and field work;
  • Promote a positive, safety-conscious, and collaborative work environment consistent with the HLMI mission, vision, and values.
  • Review operational activities to develop plans to improve efficiency and reduce exposure to radiation and hazardous materials;
  • Analyze complex equipment and systems problems to determine corrective actions to return equipment and systems to normal service;
  • Provide leadership and oversight for ensuring the requisite level of conduct of operations, safety management program implementation, and compliance in the planning and execution of these activities; and
  • Supervise Operations and Maintenance personnel as assigned by the Shift Operations Manager (SOM);
  • Conduct pre-job briefing to ensure personnel involved in the work activity are familiar with the work scope hazards, hazard controls, precautions, limitations, required training, applicable procedures, and response to emergencies;
  • Conduct reviews and analysis of systems/components. Participate/coordinate planning and conducting equipment/systems tests and readiness related activities;
  • Conduct the safe and compliant implementation of the Hanford Site Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program at 222-S Laboratory;
  • Perform and coordinates procedure reviews and the review and analysis of specific plant operating problems;
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
Grade 18:
  • Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 8 years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Grade 19:
  • Bachelors (BA/BS) degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field and 9 years of related experience, to include a minimum of 3 years in a supervisory capacity, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience with Operational work activities such as performing work in radiation areas, DOE-0336 LOTO Sitewide procedure
  • Reading and understanding drawings (mechanical and electrical)
  • Previous experience with the 222-S Laboratory desirable.
  • Experience with Nuclear Operations either on a Department of Energy (DOE) site or commercial site.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Grade 18: $101,525 - $128,075
Grade 19: $111,588 - $140,663
