What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated engineer to develop, implement, and sustain models which will drive the optimize the total manufacturing process of our cutting-edge Energy Products and Model 3 Powertrain at Gigafactory 1, outside Reno, Nevada. Through a detailed understanding of the factory objectives and extensive collaboration with internal and external teams, you will help optimize our manufacturing and material flow process. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to Tesla’s world class manufacturing facility in Nevada. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work on critical subsystems of an incredibly exciting product.
What You’ll Do
This role will contribute to, in whole or in part:Develop discrete event simulation models for factory and material flow processes; use the outputs of those models to drive continuous improvement and factory design Develop dynamic algorithms and linear programs to optimize factory, logistics, and business processes High quality decision support through, primarily but not limited to, discrete event and Monte Carlo simulation, linear programming, ADHOC Excel analysis, and other operations research methods Support of continuous improvement initiatives Business case development for capital expense projects

What You’ll Do
This role will contribute to, in whole or in part:
- BS and/or MS in Industrial, Manufacturing or equivalent engineering field, Computer Science
- 1+ years of extensive industrial experience using Discrete Event Simulation (FlexSim Preferred)
- Able to interpret simulation results and apply relevant statistical and quantitative data analyses to make effective recommendations
- Experience as part of a project team prioritizing multiple continuous improvement projects and ability to work under pressure while managing competing demands and tight deadlines
- Distinguishing experiences/skills: Previous professional experience with simulation/modeling of complex processes, real world application of operations research methods (LP, etc.), experience deploying and managing dynamic LP, lean manufacturing, analytics (SQL, Tableau), operations research, lean manufacturing principles, scale manufacturing experience, programming languages: Python, C++, VB, Advance Excel Experience with AutoCAD is a plus
