Operational Accounting Manager

$150-200K

Hybrid: 4 days in office

Newark, New Jersey

Multi-Company organization based in Newark, New Jersey, is seeking an Operational Accounting Manager to oversee and manage their accounting processes.

The Operational Accounting Manager will ensure consistency with process and company protocols across various parts of the organization.

Our client is a leader in the healthcare industry and operates under several different company names, with a focus on the health therapy sector.

The role requires a candidate with a CPA certification and a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPP preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Complete payroll or other business-critical processes when coverage is needed due to holidays, vacation, or resource constraints.
  • Manage 1099 reporting for all businesses within the organization.
  • Conduct audits for workers compensation and 401k across all companies within the organization.
  • Ensure that all business insurance policies are up-to-date and meet company requirements.
  • Complete AP/AR and all associated processes.
  • Oversee and manage the organization's employee benefits program, including retirement plans, leave policies, wellness programs, and insurance policies such as health, life, and disability.
  • Provide oversight and guidance to payroll teams, as well as AP/AR within individual businesses.
  • Drive process improvement to automate manual reconciliations and streamline accounting processes.
  • Provide general accounting guidance to cross-functional team members supporting different parts of the organization.
  • Regularly review reports from each business to ensure compliance with accounting standards and best practices.
  • Book all journal entries into G/L by states and expense category.

Desired Experience:

  • Strong understanding of HR processes and data analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong excel skills.
  • CPA is a MUST.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance with CPP preferred.
  • Multi-tasking.
  • Communication.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Knowledge of QuickBooks.
  • Desire to provide outstanding and above-and-beyond customer service.
  • People leadership/management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and utilize resources appropriately.
  • Health therapy industry experience is a strong plus.
