Operating Room (Or) Technician

Miami County Medical Center, Inc, a 39-bed general acute care facility, is currently looking for an Operating Room Technician professional to join our team.

Position Description:
The Operating Room Technician is responsible for ensuring necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment are available for a variety of surgical procedures. The Technician should be familiar with various instruments and equipment used in the surgical setting and able to demonstrate competency with using each. He/she should be able to anticipate physician needs using preference cards, communicating with the physician, and utilizing other available sources of information to coordinate providing the necessary items to complete the procedure. Assisting the physician with the surgical procedure, proper instrument handling, and maintenance of a sterile field are all part of the ORT's role. The ORT should have a solid understanding of aseptic technique and instrument processing. The ORT will assist the circulating RN with miscellaneous duties as directed by the RN.

Position Requirements:
Education:
Required High school diploma or GED
Preferred - Completion of a recognized Operating Room Technician program

Experience:
1-3 years experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills:
Ability to Multi Task and Prioritize, Customer Relations, Organizational, Medical Terminology and Verbal Communication skills required

License, Registration and/or Certification:
Healthcare Provider CPR (American Heart Association or American Red Cross ONLY) required within 7 days from date of hire
